Ranthony A.C. Edmonds, PhD Postdoctoral Researcher
I am a National Science Foundation Mathematical and Physical Sciences (NSF MPS) Ascending Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics at The Ohio State University where my sponsoring scientist is Facundo Mémoli. In 2023, I will be an NSF MPS Ascending Postdoctoral Researcher and Phillips Griffiths Assistant Research Professor at Duke University where my sponsoring scientist will be Jonathan Mattingly.
(2) "Hidden Figures Revealed: Dynamic Narratives and History of Black Mathematicians from The Ohio State University," which is the first comprehensive study of Black mathematicians at a single United State institution.
My career mission is to increase access to mathematics for Black Americans and members of other traditionally underrepresented groups in the mathematical sciences through academic research, inclusive pedagogy, and community engaged scholarship.
March - I was accepted into an AMS Mathematics Research Community for the Summer of 2022, where I will spend a week learning about open questions and starting collaborative projects with other early career researchers. I also gave two plenary talks as an invited speaker at the MAA Ohio Spring Section Meeting March 25 and 26th on my work in Black Math History and Redistricting!
February - I was awarded the inaugural MGB-SIAM Early Career Fellowship! I am excited for this three year SIAM fellowship in partnership with Mathematically Gifted and Black as I broaden my research to applied mathematics. I can't wait to engage with other members of cohort!
